If you are in a band, or into Dj’ing, or produce your own beats on a DAW….you probably have more transferable skills for the broadcast industry than you think!
I started as a bass player in a punk band, then studio runner in music studio’s which led to an introduction to broadcast studios at ITV. That has led to a 20 year career as an assistant, Dubbing assistant, Gram op, and then Sound Supervisor, working on all kinds of interesting jobs. There are a lot of different roles in live, prerecorded, comms, post production…if you are into audio, there will be a way to make a living using those skills.
You might be surprised how much you already know about audio that is very relevant to the various roles. Any questions, drop me a line! Cheers, Ben.
